Originally from Toronto, Charles Hsuen has been the host of Evening Solitude on 105.9 Seaside FM since 2005. His broadcasting career spans more than three decades, having served as a host and contributor for numerous radio organizations across Canada, including Radio Markham, Spirit One Radio, CJRT-FM 91.1, Jazz.FM91, CKDU-FM 88.1, VoicePrint Canada, and Accessible Media Inc.
Charles has worked with the Faculty of Medicine at Dalhousie University and the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada, supporting doctors in higher education and healthcare locally and internationally.
A dedicated community volunteer, Charles contributes his time and expertise to a variety of arts and cultural organizations, including the TD Halifax Jazz Festival, Cecilia Concerts, DaPoPo Theatre, and FACTOR Canada.
Beyond broadcasting, Charles is an avid film, television, and music archivist and historian whose research and writing have appeared in various publications. In recognition of his contributions to community broadcasting, he received the Community Radio Award for Broadcast and Online Programming from the National Campus and Community Radio Association in 2022.
