Our History

Over two decades of broadcasting

Founded by Wayne Harrett after he discovered his passion for radio, Seaside FM has grown from a small community station into a powerful voice across the Halifax Region and around the world.

August 2, 2002

Seaside FM launches on 94.7 FM, broadcasting its first shows to Eastern Passage and the surrounding community.

2002 - 2006

The East Coast Music Association nominates Seaside FM as East Coast Radio Station of the Year every year for five consecutive years.

March 13, 2009

We move to 105.9 FM, the frequency our listeners know and love today.

April 2015

We relocate to the CBC transmitter in Halifax, boosting power from 900W to 2,500W. Our tower campaign set a $60,000 goal, and our incredible community raised $65,000.

Our Music

The best of yesterday and today

Seaside FM knows the power of a great song. We feature a carefully curated mix of timeless classics and today's favorites from Elvis Presley and Barbra Streisand to Atlantic Canada's own rising stars, including Evans and Doherty and Anne Murray.

Our Reach

Halifax and beyond

We broadcast across the Halifax Region and attract listeners from around the world through our website stream. Our Facebook and Instagram pages keep our community up to date on local news, events, and stories, because staying connected matters.

Our Community

More than just a radio station

Seaside FM is woven into the fabric of the community. We help local nonprofits promote their events free of charge on the airwaves, our website, and social media. We love getting out there, hosting events, and meeting the people who make Halifax great.

As a nonprofit ourselves, we hold many events throughout the year to raise funds and keep the station running and ongoing inprovements including dances, concerts, BBQs, book sales, and our popular 50/50 fundraisers.

Our Staff

Powered by passion

Seaside FM is run by a dedicated team of volunteer announcers, administrators, engineers, and our General Manager, Sandy Buchan. Our broadcast crew brings together professionals from the broadcast industry and passionate members from within our community.
