School Closure................

From the Halifax Regional School Board.........John Martin Junior High will be closed on Tuesday (today). The school’s electrical service entrance was damaged during the power outage caused by Hurricane Earl and needs to be repaired before power is restored. Repairs are underway and should be completed in time for school to reopen on Wednesday.

Friday, August 27, 2010) - On Monday, August 30 and continuing until Tuesday, August 31 (weather permitting). there will be road construction taking place during the hours of 9:00 am to 4:00 pm on Windmill Rd from Akerley Blvd to Magazine Hill ( Old City of Dartmouth Limits )

 

During this time there will be stop and go traffic. Motorists should expect delays and are requested to find alternate routes if possible.

On Monday, August 30 and continuing until Friday, September 3 (weather permitting). there will be road construction taking place during the hours of 9:00 am to 4:00 pm on Portland St from Lakefront Road to Pleasant St.

 

During this time there will be stop and go traffic. Motorists should expect delays and are requested to find alternate routes if possible.

 

 

 

 

 

Natural Gas Pipeline Installation - Bedford Highway at Hammonds Plains Road

 

(Friday, August 20/10)-- Motorists are advised that, Heritage Gas, in conjunction with its contractor Sackville Trenching, are continuing with the installation of a plastic natural gas pipeline on Bedford Highway at the intersection of Hammonds Plains Road. This work is part of a pipeline project which will extend the natural gas distribution system to the Innovation Drive area.

To minimize traffic disruption while working in the intersection, the hours of work will be restricted to between 9:00 AM and 4:00 PM. During working hours, the contractor will maintain at least one lane of traffic in each direction along the Bedford Highway.

Construction of this portion of the project should be complete by August 26th. Where possible, motorists should plan alternate routes for the time of this construction.

Heritage Gas and HRM apologize for any inconvenience.

 

Dunbrack Street/Kearney Lake Road Construction

(Friday, August 20, 2010) - Attention motorists, road work on Dunbrack St. from Ross St. to the intersection of Kearney Lake Rd. and Castle Hill Dr. is continuing and lane reductions are in effect.

The duration of this work is approximately 10 weeks.

The hours of work will be 7AM-6PM.

This work is to allow for excavation of access pits in the road for the water main sliplining project being undertaken by Dexter Construction on behalf of Halifax Water.

Two lane, two way traffic flow will be maintained. All traffic will be re-routed to inbound lanes. There will be no loss of municipal services.

Sidewalk access will be maintained.

Experienced traffic control personnel will be on-site to ensure smooth traffic flow. On site personnel will also maintain communication with local residents and businesses to help minimize disruption.

Motorists are asked to use alternate routes where possible and to proceed carefully through the work zone. Motorists are also reminded that speed fines double in work zones.

(Friday, August 20, 2010) - Beginning Monday, August 23rd, and continuing for the next six weeks there will be road construction taking place on Glenforest Drive, from Southill Drive to Lacewood Drive. During this time, there will be stop and go traffic between the hours of 9:00 am and 4:00 pm. Motorists should expect delays and are requested to find alternate routes, if possible.

HALIFAX REGIONAL MUNICIPALITY: Highway 102, Larry Uteck Interchange

Traffic on Highway 102 at the Larry Uteck Interchange will be restricted to three lanes instead of four while new ramps are being built.

The closed lane will vary depending on the time. Two lanes will be open for inbound traffic in the morning and outbound traffic in the evening.

Drivers should use extra caution in the area.

HALIFAX REGIONAL MUNICIPALITY: Highway 118

The Exit 14 off ramp of Highway 118 will be reduced to one lane until Thursday, Sept. 30, to allow for the extension of the ramp.

Work takes place from sunrise to sunset.

HALIFAX REGIONAL MUNICIPALITY: Trunk 3

Sections of Trunk 3 (St. Margarets Bay Road) are reduced to one lane between Cleveland Point Road and Boutiliers Point Road for repaving.

Work takes place from sunrise to sunset until Sunday, Oct. 31.
