Now that is a beautiful Sunday! I hope everyone is enjoying their day and the work of some of our Seaside FM Sunday crew! It is hard to get everyone all together because of the variance of when their shows are scheduling. Therefore we took advantage of this opportunity and took a picture! Pictured below today in the station house are: Gordon Heffler (left) - Chief Engineer and host of the “Look For A Star” program weekly on Sunday evenings from 6-7PM, rebroadcasted Tuesday evenings from 8-10PM, Paul Kennedy (center) - Takes care of your Sunday afternoons starting at 12PM with "East Coast Feeling", then at 1PM he is on to "Mellow Country", and then he easies at 2PM to his last show of the day "Easy Top 40 Memories" until 4PM. Trent Galbraith (right) begins directly before Paul at 10AM to 12PM every Sunday morning with his show "Soothing Sunday Sounds". Enjoy the rest of your day!
Upside Down Pineapple Cake![]()
Ingredients![]()
1/4 cup butter![]()
1 cup packed brown sugar![]()
1 can (20 oz) pineapple slices in juice, drained, juice reserved![]()
1 jar (6 oz) maraschino cherries without stems, drained (about 18 cherries)![]()
1 box Betty Crocker™ Super Moist™ Yellow Cake Mix![]()
Vegetable oil and eggs called for on cake mix box![]()
Steps![]()
1. Heat oven to 350°F (325°F for dark or nonstick pan). Melt butter in 13x9-inch pan in oven. Sprinkle brown sugar evenly over melted butter. Arrange pineapple slices on brown sugar. Place cherry in center of each pineapple slice, and arrange remaining cherries around slices; press gently into brown sugar.![]()
2. Add enough water to reserved pineapple juice to measure 1 cup. Make cake batter as directed on box, substituting pineapple juice mixture for the water. Pour batter over pineapple and cherries.![]()
3. Bake 40 to 46 minutes (44 to 53 minutes for dark or nonstick pan) or until toothpick inserted in center comes out clean. Immediately run knife around side of pan to loosen cake. Place heatproof serving plate upside down onto pan; turn plate and pan over. Leave pan over cake 5 minutes so brown sugar topping can drizzle over cake; remove pan. Cool 30 minutes. Serve warm or cool. Store covered in refrigerator.

Ian Thomas first garnered major radio airplay in 1973 with the top-40 single Painted Ladies, followed by a string of hits throughout the 70s and 80s, and on into the 90s with his band The Boomers. Whether performed by him or covered by artists including Santana, Chicago, Manfred Mann, America, Bon Jovi and Bette Midler, Ian's many hits continually achieved heavy rotation on radio across Canada and around the world ... recordings such as Come The Sun, Long Long Way, Right Before Your Eyes, Coming Home, Pilot, Hold On, Time Is The Keeper, Liars, Wishes, The Runner, Levity, Back To Square One, Love Ya Too Much, You Gotta Know, One Little Word, Dirty Love, To Comfort You, and of course, Painted Ladies. In the new millennium, Ian joined fellow singer-songwriters Murray McLauchlan, Marc Jordan and Cindy Church to form Lunch At Allen's, touring coast to coast for the past two decades, and now with five albums to their credit.![]()

Of his art, Ian says: "The song remains the most satisfying creative experience for me. Songs are interactive and, with over 50 years of writing, I have spent many hours with each one and they with me. When I listen to one of my old albums, I remember where I was and the people I made them with, some living, some now dead. I think about who I am, who I used to be, and who I thought I was.
